I honestly don’t know where to start. Jessica and Josh’s wedding was pretty amazing. They invited me to stay at the cabin in North Carolina with their family and friends. It’s always a little nerve racking to go spend a few days with a bunch of strangers but everyone was SO welcoming and amazing. Upon arrival to the cabin the skies were blue with white puffy clouds. It looked as though it would be a perfect wedding day. But like any mountain excursion. This mountain wedding was subject to weather…
… On the winding road through the Blue Ridge Parkway the skies began to get darker and inevitably started to rain. Not just rain, pour. Like, a lot.
By the time we all reached the ceremony spot it was still raining. But I was prepared, possibly too prepared. I threw on my waterproof boots, pants, and jacket and got my wet weather gear together. I looked like a mountain man… but cleaner and more like a mountain man from a city. Perfect attire for a wedding ceremony…
The rain did not stop completely, however it slowed enough to the point we could continue on but the ceremony would need to happen under the only over hang at the park. Of course the overhang was a bathroom house. Jessica and Josh were not discouraged but instead decided to make it THE great story of their wedding. “Hey remember that time we got married in front of the bathroom?”
Of course once the ceremony was over the rain subsided and we were able to take photos on the mountain. We hiked the Craggy Garden Trail to the summit. It was absolutely gorgeous! The rain stopped long enough for us to get tons of great photos.
That was just day one!
One day two Jessica and Josh’s friends were set to show up. When they arrived it was awesome. Everyone just started pitching in and decorating the cabin for the party. A small ceremony was in the plans for the second day but since the first one was not so perfect they decided to do the whole thing over again. It was perfect!
After the ceremony we took a walk down to the river and Jessica and Josh got into the river for more portraits. Despite the COLD temperature of the water they were amazing.
We finished up and went back to the cabin where Jessica changed into a blue dress and the party continued into the evening. Once the sun went down it was only natural to take photos under the stars. We pulled Josh’s truck into a field across the street and they snuggled under the stars. There may or may not have been a bear… probably just a squirrel.
The “bear” may not have been real but there were other animal cameos including a happy little snake by the river and “Jimmothy” the mouse. (pictured below)
I hope you enjoy this little preview from their wedding extravaganza.
